    Experience Tamba Park IN JERSEY

Jersey’s newest attraction, Tamba Park, offers a fun-fest of fantastic family attractions on an African theme with all the profits going to the Ruff’s Kitchens Charity and the work it does in Zimbabwe – so every time you visit the money you spend makes a difference!

If you’re looking for an attraction that will thrill three generations of the same family – Tamba Park is it.

Everyone’s raving about Jersey’s fun-filled hotspot from the rope swings and zip-wires of the outdoor play areas to the scenic fish-filled lakes, tree-lined picnic areas and lush tropical gardens. Spend time enjoying the different sections of the park, which is a triumph of master-planning, as it unfurls slowly before you to reveal secluded leafy outer reaches.

Amble through the magical sculpture park where impressive wood-carved life-like animals delight squealing children keen to identify each species and mimic their calls, roars and squawks. Scenic boat rides across duck-scattered lakes are a particularly popular highlight as are meeting the eagles, hawks and falcons at the Birds of Prey Centre. Yet it is the dinosaur park that undoubtedly provides the awesome pièce de résistance: an amazing sharp-toothed animated showcase filled with prehistoric spectacles in an incredible primeval setting, the Dino Trail is home to a special type of moving multi-magic that ensures everyone leaves utterly spellbound.

Tamba Park is ideal for kids of all ages and there’s a great café if you need a food and drink stop. Admission is exceptional value (at just £4.95 for full park access for children aged 2-14, £3.95 for 14-60 year olds & £2.95 for 60+ – and even cheaper during the week.) and brings with it the added bonus of benefiting hungry children in Zimbabwe through Ruffs Kitchen.

As a country with over 90 per cent unemployment, and no real government infrastructure, Zimbabwe has very little to offer its people. Children walk miles to school each day on empty stomachs – and with no food provided at  Porno school and no guarantee of a meal when they get home many rely on Ruff’s Kitchens for their survival. The charity was launched in April 2012 and is run by the Ruff family, the owners of Tamba Park. To date the charity has set up seven kitchens in schools Zimbabwe-wide, which has seen a rise in attendance and helped children improve concentration in lessons to learn and develop more. This is all down to one simple meal each day. Ruff’s Kitchens is making a huge difference to many lives, schools and communities in Zimbabwe and plans to be feeding over 20,000 children each day across 30 schools by 2018! All the profits made at Tamba Park go to the Ruff’s Kitchens Charity – so every time you visit the money you spend makes a difference!

Well, a long weekend in Jersey would certainly work. Just a 40-minute flight from the British mainland, the biggest of the Channel Islands will help you end your mini-break with a spring in your step.

Eat a tasty breakfast, drink in the sea view

Few things make you feel more cheerful than a full stomach. But add in a spectacular sea view and you have a recipe for contentment. Where to find this pleasing combination? How about The Wayside, a perfect pitstop for breakfast, which perches alongside the rippling waters of St Brelade’s Bay in the south-west of Jersey? The English Breakfast (£6) throws together bacon, eggs, sausages, fried bread and beans with a cup of coffee or tea, while the Wizard Breakfast (£4) does something similar to keep the under-10s fed.

Hit the heights, hang on tight

Another excellent way of inducing a glow of achievement is to push yourself to places where you might not ordinarily venture. This might be Valley Adventure Centre, at Mont a la Brune, a two-mile hop west of The Wayside – and, specifically, its challenging “aerial trekking” course. This high-ropes bonanza offers 26 different obstacles which can be tackled via both a three-metre and a more nerve-jangling eight-metre route – before a simulated freefall drop rounds matters off with an adrenalin surge. Adults £27, children £21.

Head to the farmhouse, stay for dinner

A family day always needs a hour’s pause for lunch or dinner to re-energise. The Farm House, in St John, in the north of Jersey, serves up dishes to sate appetites of guests both young and old. The Farm House Burger (£14) adds chorizo and onion marmalade to its wedges of chicken and beef. Fresh cod goujons and fries (£6.25) are a highlight of the kids’ menu.

Watch the water, look for the glow

You can enjoy an evening which will illuminate your weekend, both literally and metaphorically, at La Rocque Harbour, at the very south-east tip of the island. Here, Jersey Walk Adventures provides hosted walks along the seabed in search of a remarkable natural phenomenon. As dusk descends and the tide recedes, bioluminescent marine creatures start to glow an eerie green at the sea’s edge. You might call it a “moonwalk” … you will certainly call it magical. (Advance booking recommended. Adults £15.50, children £7.50)

    Park Attractions

This is my first time here & its not just for kids as I loved seeing all the dinos. There was so much for all indoor play area & outdoor play area, place to eat indoors & by the lake a coffee shop with tables & chairs undercover looking over the lake. You can take a ride in the boats for a fee or can pay to use mini boats & steer them around the lake. You can feed the huge fish as food to pay on the plateform.

There are two walks through to see all the dinos they move & roar. There is little zoo with owls, rabbits, hens & chickens. Plenty of stone statues of diff things one can buy opposite the little zoo. There was a craft room for the kids to make things as it was Easter coming up that was theme. It wasn’t expensive to get in with map to guide you around, of course a gift shop full of dinos!!!Plenty of parking, but I came by bus from the bus station, 2 mins walk to the park. Would recommend.
